Christian Hyde
General Counsel
Access Partnership's General Counsel, Christian Hyde has nearly 10 years experience in telecommunications law and business in emerging markets, including the acquisition of licences for commercial clients and the development of regulation on behalf of governments. He has a long track record of successfully negotiating commercial agreements and authorisations in challenging regulatory environments.

In his work on behalf of telecommunications operators in all regions of the world, he has consistently delivered the least-cost, longest-lasting operating agreements and licence terms obtainable. He is fluent and is able to negotiate in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. He also has a working knowledge of Swahili and Nepali.

Prior to joining Access Partnership, Christian was in-house counsel to GS Telecom, a provider of satellite network services in Africa. In his position there, Christian negotiated licenses with governmental authorities and national operators on behalf of a wide variety of corporate clients, drafted and negotiated inter-operator agreements, distribution agreements, strategic partnerships, sale and service agreements, financing transactions, and was responsible for the creation of company subsidiaries throughout Africa.

Prior to GS Telecom, Christian was Regulatory Manager at ICO Global Communications, where he worked with national governments to develop licensing frameworks for space-based services. From 1994-1997, he was Associate Counsel at Johnston & Buchan in Ottawa, one of Canada's premier telecommunications law firms, and was a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.

Christian received an LLB and a degree in Political Science from the University of Ottawa. He is a member of the bars of Ontario and Quebec (Canada).
