There’s a lively debate underway as to whether, and how, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be regulated.

How best do policymakers ensure an ethical approach to the use of AI without holding back innovation?  To what extent can a common approach be adopted across different applications of AI? What is practically achievable in relation to the ethical principles of transparency and accountability?  The European Commission is expected to publish its proposals during the next few weeks, and similar work is underway in the UK.

On 3 March, Access Partnership will host a workshop organised by the International Institute of Communications’ (IIC) UK Chapter. The workshop, titled, “Can regulation of AI promote both ethics and innovation?”, will offer debate on all these questions.

The event will begin at 17:00 and end at 19:30, with a prompt start to the debate at 17:30.
